Le palais de justice, qui a été conçu par George Papworth dans le style néoclassique et construit en pierre de taille, a été achevé en 1822. Il a été reconstruit selon un design de George Wilkinson en 1860. Le design comportait une façade principale symétrique donnant sur The Mall ; il y avait un court escalier menant à un grand portique hexastyle avec des colonnes d'ordre dorique soutenant une corniche à modillons et un entablement ; le portique était flanqué de deux travées de chaque côté avec les travées aux extrémités, qui étaient projetées en avant en tant que pavillons, présentant des fenêtres vénitiennes au premier étage.
