Le Fort d'Uithoorn fait partie de la Ceinture d'Amsterdam. On parle parfois dans le langage populaire du Fort Amstelhoek. Le fort est situé dans le village d'Amstelhoek dans la commune de De Ronde Venen, et est visible depuis la N196. Autour de l'ouvrage de fortification se trouve un fossé.
Autour d'Amsterdam, 45 forts ont été construits à partir de 1880. Le Fort Amstelhoek était à l'origine constitué de remblais en terre, et en 1887, un décret royal a été approuvé pour construire un ouvrage fortifié. Cela a été agrandi entre 1909 et 1911 avec des bâtiments anti-bombes et en 1917, une unité de défense aérienne a été ajoutée. La garnison comptait alors 321 hommes.
