Köthen o Kothin è una parte abitata del comune della città di Märkisch Buchholz nel distretto di Dahme-Spreewald.
Il luogo si trova a poco meno di 5 km in linea d'aria a sud-est di Märkisch Buchholz, sulla riva sud del lago di Köthen, nella riserva della biosfera del Spreewald. Il territorio confina a nord con il territorio di Groß Wasserburg, il territorio della città di Märkisch Buchholz e il territorio di Birkholz, a est con il territorio di Leibsch e a sud e ovest di nuovo con il territorio di Groß Wasserburg. Il luogo è raggiungibile solo tramite due piccole strade di collegamento da Groß Wasserburg e Märkisch Buchholz. La strada che porta al centro del paese è una cul-de-sac.
