Köthen ou Kothin, est une partie habitée de la ville de Märkisch Buchholz dans l’arrondissement de Dahme-Spreewald.
Le village est situé à un peu moins de 5 km au sud-est de Märkisch Buchholz à vol d’oiseau sur la rive sud du lac de Köthen dans la réserve de biosphère de Spreewald. Le territoire communal est bordé au nord par le district communal de Groß Wasserburg, le district communal de Märkisch Buchholz et le territoire communal de Birkholz, à l’est par le district communal de Leibsch et au sud et à l’ouest par le district communal de Groß Wasserburg. Le village n’est accessible que par deux petites routes de liaison depuis Groß Wasserburg et Märkisch Buchholz. La route menant au centre-ville est une impasse.
