Köthen or Kothin is a residential part of the town of Märkisch Buchholz in the Dahme-Spreewald district.
The location is approximately 5 km air line southeast of Märkisch Buchholz on the southern shore of Lake Köthen in the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve. The area borders to the north with the area of Groß Wasserburg, the area of the town of Märkisch Buchholz, and the area of Birkholz; to the east with the area of Leibsch; and to the south and west again with the area of Groß Wasserburg. The location can only be accessed via two small connecting roads from Groß Wasserburg and Märkisch Buchholz. The road into the village center is a dead end.
