Il padre Armand David è un grande naturalista francese che ha catalogato in Cina migliaia di animali e piante. Per i cinesi, è il padre del panda. Originario di Espelette, il comune ha appena sistemato un giovane arboreto dove sono piantati solo alberi della Cina, con la denominazione "davidii", "davidiana" o "davidia". Una bella passeggiata da fare intorno al castello di Espelette.
