Gli alberi furono regalati nel 1864 dal fratello dell'Imperatore del Giappone a Monsieur de Leffe, costruttore della linea ferroviaria Montluçon / Limoges. Gli 11 alberi furono piantati per abbellire la nuova stazione, all'incrocio Saint-Sulpice / Montluçon e Parigi / Limoges. La loro circonferenza varia da 2,70 a 3,10 metri e sono alti 25 metri. La loro curiosità risiede nella rarità della specie e nel fatto che sono piantati in file.
