I lavoratori del legno duro lavoravano nel cuore della foresta da ottobre a giugno, rifugiandosi in una capanna coperta di corteccia che costruivano da soli all'inizio della stagione. La capanna fungeva da officina, sala da pranzo e anche da dormitorio per i lavoratori. Al centro c'era un banco per tagliare la legna, gli attrezzi appesi al telaio, una sedia e un camino nel pavimento. La capanna dei tagliatori di foglie sullo stagno di Masselièvre è stata restaurata due anni fa ed è un luogo molto piacevole per fare un picnic, al riparo dall'acqua.
