La Veluwe è la più grande area boschiva dei Paesi Bassi. Grandi parti della Veluwe consistono in colline moreniche sollevate dai ghiacciai dell'ultima era glaciale (l'era glaciale di Saale). La forza del ghiaccio si può in parte comprendere se si osserva il punto più alto, il Rozendaalsche veld. Questo è anche la collina morenica più alta dei Paesi Bassi e il punto più alto dei Paesi Bassi al di fuori del Limburgo meridionale. Si trova a 110 metri sopra il livello del mare. Questo punto fa parte del Parco Nazionale Veluwezoom, appena a nord di Rheden. A nord si trovano tra l'altro l'area di sabbia mobile Leuvenhorst e la Foresta di Leuvenum.
