Il poeta e proprietario del fondo A.C.W. Staring (1767-1840). Il 'contadino' Staring aveva occhio per la natura e il modo in cui gestiva il fondo era molto particolare per i suoi tempi. Nelle vicinanze di Almen lavorava al miglioramento del 'drainaggio' dei terreni agricoli. Il fatto che il suo impegno per la modernizzazione non fosse sempre apprezzato lo espresse nella sua poesia 'Il Contadino Orgoglioso' (orgoglioso = testardo). Proprio fuori dal villaggio, presso il ponte cantato nella poesia, c'è questo cartello con quattro righe della poesia.
