Kranenburg è un paesino nel comune di Bronckhorst lungo la strada tra Vorden e Ruurlo nella provincia olandese di Gelderland. Kranenburg appartiene all'Achterhoek e conta poco più di 200 abitanti.
Fino alla tarda età media, questa parte dell'Achterhoek era una zona paludosa. Si cercavano le zone asciutte e elevate per stabilirsi. Questi insediamenti venivano spesso chiamati con il nome delle specie animali che si trovavano su queste 'montagne'. Su una collina appena a sud dell'attuale Kranenburg nidificavano le gru. Per questo motivo, la fattoria che qui fu fondata venne chiamata 'De Kranenbarg'.
