Kranenburg es un pueblo en el municipio de Bronckhorst en el camino entre Vorden y Ruurlo en la provincia de Gelderland, Países Bajos. Kranenburg pertenece a la Achterhoek y cuenta con más de 200 habitantes.
Hasta finales de la Edad Media, esta parte de la Achterhoek era una zona pantanosa. Se buscaban las partes secas y elevadas para establecerse. Estos asentamientos a menudo recibían nombres de las especies animales que se encontraban en estas 'montañas'. En una colina un poco al sur del actual Kranenburg anidaban grullas. Por esa razón, la granja que se fundó aquí fue llamada 'De Kranenbarg'.
