La facciata distintiva del grande e largo edificio doppio con vestibolo laterale e balaustra sovrastante fu progettata nel 1865 e dipinta in diverse tonalità di crema.
Dietro la facciata del XIX secolo si cela una lunga storia. L'edificio era originariamente composto da due case, le cui più antiche tracce risalgono al XV secolo.
Per tutto il XVIII secolo, l'edificio fu di proprietà di membri della prominente famiglia regnante Schagen, mentre il XIX secolo fu dominato dalla famiglia nobiliare Alewijn.
Gli stemmi di famiglia di Pieter Opperdoes Alewijn e della sua seconda moglie Margaretha Swart adornano ancora la facciata.
