Het bos is ongeveer 80 ha dat grotendeels op het grondgebied van Meldert ligt en een deel op grondgebied Mazenzele en Asse, meer bepaald in het gehucht Asse-ter-Heide. Het bos is grotendeels privé eigendom; een kleiner deel is in handen van het Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos. Via het wandelknooppuntennetwerk kan je het bos verkennen en er zijn ook drie wandellussen (geel 3,2 km, rood 4,2 km en blauw 3,8 km) die je het bos en het naburige landschap laten verkennen. www.natuurenbos.be/kravaalbos
