Volgens een legende zou een houten beeldje gevonden zijn in een houtmijt van hoeve 't Hof te Veylst. Dit stelde de moeder van Mara voor: de Heilige Anna. Ze droeg op haar arm Maria die op haar beurt Jezus droeg. Het beeldje werd eerst in enkele houten kapelletjes geplaatst maar uiteindelijk kwam er in 1639 een stenen kapel. Dit zou gekoppeld zijn aan de pestepidemie waarvan in de streek vele mensen bespaard waren. (en toegeschreven aan dit beeldje). Wist je dat sinds 1631 elke dinsdagavond de kapellemis wordt opgedragen.
