Description

De Schelde loopt voor 17 kilometer op West-Vlaamse bodem. Het is een druk bevaren rivier doordat ze Frankrijk met de Vlaamse havens verbindt en verder ook Nederland vlot bereikbaar maakt. De Schelde is een niet te onderschatten verkeersas. Ze is dag en nacht bevaarbaar. De afgesneden meanders (coupures) kenmerken de Scheldevallei.
