Gevoed door het water van de Laak gaat de Grote Nete op zoek naar zijn eindbestemming. Voor het zo ver is, meandert de rivier een eind door de provincie Antwerpen en levert daar al eeuwenlang een bijdrage tot de vorming van het landschap dat we vandaag kennen. De Nete en bijrivieren dragen ertoe bij dat het landschap in de omgeving een behoorlijk groen karakter heeft, ondanks de nefaste bedrijvigheid van de mens.
