Deze waterburcht is gelegen in een uitgestrekt parkdomein van Beveren.
Het oudste gedeelte van het kasteel gaat minstens terug tot het begin van de 15de eeuw toen de familie Vijd uit Gent het kasteel bewoonde. Het kasteel werd achtereenvolgens door vier verschillende adellijke families bewoond en verbouwd. In 1966 kocht de gemeente het kasteel met park en bijgebouwen. In de gevel boven de inkomdeur staat het beeld van Sint-Maarten als Romeins soldaat die zijn mantel deelt. Hiermee wordt het kasteel onder diens bescherming geplaatst. In de kasteelkapel beeldt een merkwaardig medaillon aan het plafond Martinus af als jongeling met zwaard én snor.
