Op deze begraafplaats die in 1923 werd opengesteld rusten 1200 Franse soldaten die tijdens de gevechten in 1914 om het leven kwamen.
Het monument l'Assaut (achteraan), een werk van Alexandre Daoust, verbeeldt de herovering van de citadel door de fransen op 15 augustus 1914. Het is meer bepaald gewijdt aan Sergant Majoor Bouchez die de Duitse vlag veroverde die op de citadel wapperde.
