Was voor WOII een sanotorium voor de zieke kinderen uit de Gentst textielnijverheid. Op deze plaats werd later de Residentie Astrid gebouwd. Tijdens WOII gebruikten de Duitse militairen het gebouw als logies voor hun soldaten die batterijen bemanden. Het gebouw raakte zwaar beschadigd en kon niet meer gebruikt worden als sanatorium. Tot 1967 werd het gebouw gebruikt als wijkschool Duinen. In het schooljaar 1967-1968 is de school verhuisd naar zijn huidige locatie in de Schoollaan (nabij het gemeentehuis).
