Lichtenau is de centrale stadsdeel van Lichtenau in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Duitsland en maakt deel uit van de Kreis Paderborn. De plaats is de zetel van de stadsadministratie. Lichtenau is verder een deel van de regio Bürener Land.
In het zuidoosten grenzend aan de plaats Lichtenau met de klok mee zijn de Lichtenauer stadsdelen Kleinenberg, Holtheim, Husen, Ebbinghausen, Grundsteinheim, Asseln en Hakenberg. De oostelijke grens van de plaats is tegelijkertijd de stadsgrens van Lichtenau en de grens van de Kreis tegen de Kreis Höxter met de stad Willebadessen.
