Het stuwmeer Pöhl is qua grootte van de opslagcapaciteit het op één na grootste en qua hoogte van de dam en wateroppervlak het op twee na grootste stuwmeer in Saksen. Het stuwmeer dient ter bescherming tegen overstromingen, voor drinkwatervoorziening, verhoging van de waterstand bij laag water, energieopwekking en recreatie.
De stuwdam van het stuwmeer Pöhl is een gebogen gewichtsdijk van beton. Het stuwmeer werd gebouwd van 1958 tot 1964 in de buurt van Jocketa in het Vogtland. Het stuwmeer is vernoemd naar het dorp Pöhl, dat nu onder water ligt. In werkelijkheid dient de onderwaterplaats als duik attractie. Het opgestuwde water, de Trieb, is een zijrivier van de Witte Elster.
