Kleinschmalkalden is sinds 1 februari 2006 een deelgemeente van Floh-Seligenthal in de Thüringse Landkreis Schmalkalden-Meiningen met ongeveer 1400 inwoners. Van 1945 tot 1990 droeg de plaats de naam Pappenheim ter herinnering aan de door de nationaal-socialisten vermoorde politicus Ludwig Pappenheim.
Kleinschmalkalden ligt in de vallei van de Schmalkalde, ten noorden van de stad Schmalkalden, aan de zuidwesthelling van het Thüringer Woud. Hier worden klokken, kleine ijzerwaren en gereedschappen geproduceerd. In de DDR was de plaats een erkend luchtkuuroord. Het Spitzkehrenstation Kleinschmalkalden lag aan de spoorlijn Schmalkalden–Brotterode.
