Complex op meerdere eilanden met een voor- en hoofdburcht, gedeeltelijk omringd door brede gracht, tweevleugelig L-vormig herenhuis, brede grachten
De burcht stamt in zijn oorsprong uit de 15e eeuw en presenteert zich vandaag de dag als een renaissancecomplex met barokke elementen uit de 17e eeuw. De bouwheren waren waarschijnlijk de heren van Trock en later de vrijheren van Droste tot Vischering. Hun nakomelingen zijn tot op de dag van vandaag in bezit van Haus Vorhelm.
