Voornamelijk in west-oostelijke richting, stroomt het door de vallei die zich opent tussen de zuidhelling van de Serra de Querol, het massief van de Port del Comte en de noordhelling van de Serra de la Creu del Codó in de eerste helft van zijn loop en die van de Serrat de la Creueta in de tweede.
Het begint bij de Coll de Jou op 1.459 meter boven zeeniveau en mondt uit in het reservoir van de Llosa del Cavall op 800 meter boven zeeniveau, na te zijn gepasseerd door Vilamantells en het dorp Sant Llorenç de Morunys links te laten.
