De vier baaien zijn een beschermd landschap in de regio Murcia. Het wordt beschouwd als een gebied van communautair belang en maakt deel uit van het Natura 2000-netwerk.[1]
Gelegen in de gemeente Águilas, omvat het de baaien van Calarreona, La Higuerica, La Carolina en Los Cocedores, waarvan de laatste zich al in de nabijheid van de provincie Almería bevindt. De erosie door wind en zee heeft unieke landschappen gecreëerd, met talrijke vulkanische uitlopers. Onder hen bevindt zich de vulkaan van Punta Parda, die als van groot geologisch belang wordt beschouwd.
