Description

De Basken waren beroemde scheepsbouwers en zeilers. Sommige theorieën suggereren zelfs dat ze dit van de vikingen hebben geleerd die zich langs de Abour-rivier in het noorden van het Baskenland hadden gevestigd. Het is bekend dat de Basken naar de Faeröer-eilanden zeilden en Atlantische kabeljauw ontdekten die zeer gemakkelijk te zouten is, omdat het vlekkeloos is en prachtig wit vlees heeft. Ze verhandelden dit in de hele Middellandse Zee.
