De "Bellevue"-kazerne, gebouwd door de stad in 1911, bestond uit een twintigtal gebouwen, bestemd voor drie bataljons. Het 174e Regiment Infanterie trok er op 1 juli 1911 in. Na 1918 kreeg de kazerne de naam "Bataille" ter herinnering aan generaal Henri Jules Bataille (1816-1882) die zich aan het hoofd van de 2e Divisie had onderscheiden tijdens de slag bij Forbach-Spicheren op 6 augustus 1870.
