The "Bellevue" barracks, built by the City in 1911, was then composed of about twenty buildings intended to accommodate three battalions. The 174th Infantry Regiment would move there on 1 July 1911. After 1918, the barracks took the name "Bataille" in memory of General Henri Jules Bataille (1816-1882) who had distinguished himself at the head of the 2nd Division during the battle of Forbach-Spicheren on 6 August 1870.
