In 1734 was er nauwelijks nog iets over van de middeleeuwse "chastel", die al in 1671 op last van Lodewijk XIV gedeeltelijk was afgebroken. Jean-Antoine d'Eltz liet een kasteel bouwen, dat later overging op zijn broer Philippe-Antoine en vervolgens op zijn neef Philippe-Charles d'Hunolstein, die het gedeeltelijk onbewoond liet. Wat overbleef van het kasteel na de brand in 1792 werd gesloopt in 1810.
Een grote toren, een overblijfsel van het middeleeuwse kasteel, is nog steeds zichtbaar. Het enige overblijfsel van het 18e-eeuwse kasteel is het dienstgebouw met ornamentele raamdecoratie.
