De Pleistos is een rivier in centraal Griekenland. Het laat het Pleistos-vallei, vernoemd naar de rivier, af, een relatief recente riftvallei ten noorden van de Golf van Korinthe, en parallel eraan. Ze hebben dezelfde geologische oorzaken. Aangezien het zich in een karstlandschap bevindt, stroomt of sijpelt een groot deel van de rivier door ondergrondse kanalen. De oppervlakte-stroom is intermittent. De kalkstenen rivierbedding die het licht weerkaatst, geeft echter de indruk van een stroom water.
