Het veertiende eeuwse Kasteel Erenstein ligt in de Anstelvallei en dankt zijn naam aan de eerste bewoner, ridder Adam van Ederen. Hij koos deze strategische plek - op de handelsroute tussen Keulen en Brugge - om tol te heffen bij de brug over de Anstelerbeek. In de kasteeltuin, waar u verderop in deze route doorheen loopt, staat het borstbeeld van Gabriël Grupello. Deze beroemde Vlaamse beeldhouwer bracht de laatste jaren van zijn leven in het kasteel door en overleed hier in 1730. Tegenwoordig is Kasteel Erenstein een restaurant.
