Dit eerste viaduct gebouwd in Zeeuws Vlaanderen was er om de Graaf Jansdijk ter plaatse te
behouden en ruim baan te geven aan de spoorlijn (54) Mechelen-Terneuzen die al in 1871 werd
aangelegd. Het viaduct uit 1912 met smeedijzeren balustrades een vroeg voorbeeld van
utiliteitsbouw met gewapend beton geldt sinds 2005 als industrieel monument. Onder de brug staat
een gedenkteken in de vorm van een spoorwegovergang, tevens een rustpunt op de wandelroute
Spoorpad.
