Over de invalsweg kwam op 23 september 1665 Christoph Bernard van Galen, vorstbisschop van Münster, met een grote troepenmacht naar Losser. Het dorp werd vrijwel geheel in de as gelegd. De troepen trokken zich terug maar sloegen hier (41) , links voor de brug meer dan vijf maanden, hun kampement op. En de Lossernaren moesten al die tijd veel schatting betalen.
