Wat Phraya Tikaram bevindt zich op het eiland van de stad in het oostelijke deel van Ayutthaya, in de sub-district Phai Ling. Het klooster ligt aan de zuidelijke oever van Khlong Kramang. De naam van het kanaal verandert in Khlong Ban Bat terwijl het westwaarts van Wat Phraya Tikaram verder gaat naar de samenvloeiing met Khlong Dusit en uiteindelijk aansluit bij de nieuwe Pa Sak-rivier naast het stads eiland. In het oosten, bij de kruising met Khlong Hantra, loopt Khlong Khao Mao, een zijrivier van de Pa Sak-rivier die zijn oorsprong vindt in Tha Ruea.
Wat Thung Yi (niet meer in gebruik) staat in het westen, terwijl Wat Krasang (actieve tempel) in het oosten is.
Wat Phraya Tikaram is een actief klooster dat vroeger bekend stond als Wat Phra Yat, Wat Phop Yat. Het heiligdom wordt weergegeven op een kaart uit 1916 n.Chr. als Wat Phra Phop.
