Description

Die Barbacane, ein Wachturm aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, hat Mauern, die von zahlreichen Arkebusierinnen durchbrochen sind.
Diese vorgeschobene Befestigung diente als Zugang zur Stadt.
Während des Hundertjährigen Krieges gegen die Engländer mussten die Einwohner von Cahors nämlich eine neue Stadtmauer im Norden (die Barbacane) errichten, um die zahlreichen Wohnhäuser und Klöster zu schützen.
Das Denkmal ist von außen sichtbar und kann nicht besichtigt werden.
