A fire destroyed a farmer's barn. In despair, he made a pact with Satan: the building would be rebuilt before dawn in exchange for his soul. The remorseful farmer confessed everything to his wife, who had the idea of making the rooster crow before daybreak. Panic-stricken, Satan fled. But the next day, enraged at discovering the deception, the Devil threw one of the barn's stones into the neighbouring field... where it remains to this day.
