Kapellet Notre-Dame de la Salette blev bygget i 1849 af familien Anciaux.
I året 1846 skete der i La Salette en af den katolske kirke anerkendt Marienåbenbaring for to hyrdebørn.
Siden da har La Salette, en lille landsby i kommunen La Salette-Fallavaux nær Grenoble, udviklet sig til et sandt pilgrimssted.
