L' ajuntament d'Herzele també és conegut com a Schepenhuis.

Es desconeix la data exacta de construcció del Schepenhuis actual, però el primer esment oficial data de 1571 , on se l'esmenta com « Herberghe Sinte Martin staende on trobi ende marckt van herseele» Això suggereix que l'edifici podria ser fins i tot més antic.

Durant el segle XVIII , en desaparèixer la funció de "schepen", l'edifici va patir importants reformes, incloent-hi la construcció d'una nova torre.

En els darrers anys (2025), s'ha planificat renovar el Schepenhuis i donar-li un nou propòsit .

Casa del regidor del 1951-1952, inspirada en l'arquitectura del segle XVIII.
