Oprindelsen til navnet kan udledes fra en sammentrækning af to ord, nemlig Arenborg og del, en lille skålformet lavning eller hul.parken ligger øverst på klinten, på den høje Maasterras.
Parken er omgivet af A67 mod nord, vejen Herungerberg med café Backus mod øst, et lille boligområde med gader opkaldt efter hovedpersonerne fra Venlo-incidentet mod syd og lavterrasserne mod vest.
