Beaumont, gelegen im Tal der Hantes, ist der Ort, an dem Napoleon die Nacht vor der Schlacht von Waterloo verbrachte.
Beaumont liegt auf einem 70 m hohen Hügel über der Hantes. Die Stadt wurde durch eine beeindruckende Mauer mit etwa 30 Türmen verteidigt. Das wichtigste Überbleibsel davon ist der Salamanderturm aus dem 12. Jahrhundert.
Der Ort ist auch für seine Feste bekannt, die alle 5 Jahre am ersten Sonntag im Oktober gefeiert werden. Dann wird die Legende von Kaiser Karl und den drei Markthändlern erinnert. Als der Kaiser einen Ausritt machte, wurde er von drei Markthändlern aus dem Sattel gehoben, die nicht wussten, wer er war. Nach seiner Rückkehr zu Fuß ließ er sie am zentralen Platz aufhängen.
Beaumont ist auch bekannt für seine Makronen.
