Kachtem ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Westflandern und ein Stadtteil der Stadt Izegem. Kachtem liegt an der Mandel und dem Kanal Roeselare-Leie. Bis zum 31. Dezember 1976 war es eine selbstständige Gemeinde. Kachtem hat eine Fläche von 5,17 km² und zählt etwa 3700 Einwohner. Der Name Kachtem ist eine Verfälschung des fränkischen Namens "Cackingeheim" und wurde erstmals 1116 erwähnt. Zusammengesetzt ist Cack-inge-heim aufgeteilt in Cack, dessen Bedeutung unbekannt ist, Inge bedeutet Nachkommen und heim bedeutet Wohnort.
