The old railway tunnel of Le Dattier is part of the former "Train des Pignes" (Saint-Raphaël – Toulon) along the Corniche des Maures.
The tunnel is approximately 285 metres long and was hand-carved in the late 19th century through mica schist , a brittle rock on which explosives could not be used.
It now serves as a pedestrian and cycle path (part of European route V65 ), known as Chemin Pierre Foncin. The tunnel is straight and lit , with pedestrian and cycle lanes; no car traffic is allowed there, only residents of Le Dattier are allowed to drive there.
