Mit ihren Pfeilspitzen, die mehr als 75 Meter in den Himmel ragen, wird sie oft mit der Kathedrale verwechselt. Die im 11. Jahrhundert gegründete Abtei war eine der reichsten des Mittelalters. Von dem Gebäude ist nur noch die elegante Fassade erhalten, aber auch das Refektorium der Mönche, der Kreuzgang und die Nebengebäude sind intakt. Das Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine ist in der vollständig restaurierten ehemaligen Wohnung des Abtes untergebracht. Am Rande eines lichtdurchlässigen Modells mit einem schönen dekorativen Effekt der Abtei Saint-Jean-des-Vignes geben Erläuterungstafeln die Schlüssel zum Verständnis der Stadt und ihres Kulturerbes an die Hand.
Nicht zu verpassen ist sein majestätisches Refektorium.
Neu ist, dass Sie bei der Besichtigung auch das gerade restaurierte Türmchen der Stadtmauer betreten können.
