The Chapel of St. Peter is the chapel of the Apostle who cites the sin of denial , which had to be built at the same time as the previous chapel by some devotees.
On top of the hollow of the hat is Luke's inscription: << ET EGRESSUS FO/RAS PETRUS FLEVIT/AMARE », translated as: << and going away, Peter wept bitterly ».
The chapel depicts the three denials of Peter before Jesus Christ (including the scene with the rooster ), in which Peter wept deeply because he had denied his master. He wept profusely and his face filled with tears.
Also next to the wall of this chapel are the coat of arms of D. Jorge da Costa and the inscription:
<< ARMAS. OF THE IA CHAPEL / WHICH THE / MR. D. JORGE DA COSTA AR / BISHOP OF BRAGA HAD BUILT IN 1494, WERE FOUND DURING THE EXCAVATIONS / OF THE FOUNDATIONS OF THIS WORK IN / 1839 WITH THE IIL (ustrissi) MO / JOAQUIM DA MOTTA CAR / TWO ABBOT OF MAXIMINOS AS CHAIRMAN ».
