Sur cette partie du chemin, il semble que le chemin ait été pavé. Mais ce sont les bancs de grès qui remontent à la surface ici. La route coupe littéralement dans ces peuplements de sable, mais parce qu’ils sont assez résistants, ils forment de petites marches. Ces bancs de sable sont une pierre naturelle locale qui se forme dans les couches de sable du sable Busselian ou Formation de Bruxelles. Cette couche de sable a été déposée ici dans une mer peu profonde dans le tertiaire.
