Le Hoogeland est la région au-dessus du Reitdiep. L'un des plus anciens paysages culturels des Pays-Bas, car 600 ans avant Jésus-Christ, les premiers habitants s'étaient déjà installés dans cette région côtière. Pour garder les pieds au sec, des motte ont été élevées et les églises historiques se trouvent encore au point culminant. De beaux panoramas et de charmants villages se succèdent. Le sol argileux fertile attire encore de nouveaux habitants, car un potager, cela réussit ici!
