The Ter is a river in Catalonia, Spain that begins in the Pyrenees at Ull de Ter (2480 m high), flows through the city of Girona, and empties into the Mediterranean Sea near Torroella de Montgrí. The mouth is also called La Gola. The river is 208 km long and has a catchment area of 3001 km², making it the largest river in Catalonia. Together with the Muga and the Fluvià, it has formed the large alluvial plain of Empordà at the mouth. The river merges with the La Maçana and heads towards Girona where the rivers Güell and Onyar flow into the Ter. One can fish for carp after a four-kilometer walk to the mouth. Daily catches of 45 kg are very common.
