La font va ser construïda probablement a la fi del segle XIX o principis del XX .
El grup escultòric que compon aquesta font monumental és una còpia en ferro colat del famós monument funerari per al cor d'Enric II obra dels escultors Germain Pilon (el grup escultòric pròpiament dit) i Dominique Florentin (el pedestal), que havia de ser col·locat a l'església del Monestir dels Célestins a París i va acabar al Museu del Louvre durant la Restauració.
El simbolisme de les Tres Gràcies es remunta a la mitologia . El poeta Hesíode descriu tres deesses: Aglaia (que representa l'esplendor), Eufrosina (l'alegria) i Tàlia (l'abundància). Juntes representen un ideal de bellesa.
