Det Helgolandiske klippeområde med den dertil hørende „undervandsverden“ tilhører naturreservatet Helgolandklippens sokkel og er den eneste habitat af sin slags i Tyskland. Det ligger vest og nord for Helgoland. Det tørrer ved lavvande. Den gennemsnitlige tidevandsforskel er her 2,30 meter. Klippeområdet er i løbet af århundreder opstået gennem gradvis erosion af klippen på klippeøen.
